Jules Scharpé is an Antwerp-based artist. His work is rooted in a long-standing fascination with faces, not as portraits of identity, but as carriers of tension, emotion, and unspoken presence. A gaze, a fracture, or a subtle shift often reveals more than narrative or words.
Working intuitively with acrylic, each piece evolves from a single line or impulse into a layered composition. Faces multiply, dissolve, and re-emerge within a field of organic forms and shifting color. Movement is central: lines bend, structures collide, and harmonies remain in constant flux.
Each face exists independently while simultaneously belonging to a larger constellation. The work explores this fragile balance between individuality and connection, inviting sustained looking rather than immediate interpretation.
